Words that make me angry
Maybe someday I'll make a full list of the words I don't like, words that irritate me, upset me, infuriate me when I hear them. Recently a new word was added to the list, but with qualifications: bubbly. Generally speaking, I think bubbly has a negative connotation. As my coworker says, it's the kind of word you use when someone is really nice but doesn't seem to have a lot of other things going for them. I think it's the kind of word you use when someone is overly nice, when they are an "over-bro," if you will. The word didn't bother me that much until Friday though, when someone called me bubbly! I almost protested. I try to be nice and have a good attitude -- as Lincoln apparently said, "People are as happy as they make their minds up to be" (or something to that affect) -- but I'm not bubbly, am I?
